WALK runs a Fetac Level Three course called "Personal and Social Employment Skills - Working in the Disability Sector".

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is designed to provide unemployed adults with a very broad range of personal and social employment skills which will prepare them for entry/reentry into the world of work or further education.

The course is run with a particular emphasis on gaining the skills that would be required to work with people with disabilities and will therefore mostly appeal to and suit participants who have a real and genuine interest in purusing a career or further education in this sector.

The course content will consist of a very interesting mix of 'workshop' style directed training and on site work experience placements across a range of disability service providers.

Who can apply for this course?

This course is available to any person aged 18 years or older.

You do not need to have a formal education but you should have basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills.

You should have a belief in the values of respect, independence and inclusion and self direction for all people with disabilities.

You should be flexible in your availability because some work placements may require evening work on weekdays.

You do not need to have previous experience but you will need to have a real and genuine interest in working with people with disabilities.

I would like to apply for the next course that you are running, what are my next steps?

You should contact Paul Flanagan on 01 - 465 0388 to discuss any queries you have and to get more details of the course.
