Hi All, Just an update on a new exciting transition programme that commenced on Monday this week. Walkways Tallaght Hospital is a new transitioning WALK program being run in partnership with Tallaght Hospital. 11 people we support in WALK have become trainees in Tallaght Hospital for 1 year, where they will gain employability skills, by completing 3 x 14 week work rotations within different departments within the hospital. The range of departments and roles are as follows
The trainees will work full time from 9am-3pm Monday-Friday, developing their work skill set, learning new tasks and socialising with their colleagues. Trainees are being supported by 2 WALK staff who will be based in Tallaght Hospital.
The overall aim of this program is for the trainees to gain employability skills so that they can be supported to find career type employment when they finish. WALK are supporting this through creating a Business Support Network, a group of business people who will get to know, mentor and ultimately hire the trainees when they finish their year in Tallaght Hospital.
A big well done to Vicki Hogan who took on this project and has done a fantastic job. A new job coach Louise has also started on this programme. To all the trainees that began their internship on Monday we wish you the very best of luck.
