We are thrilled that WALKways Tallaght Hospital programme was announced as the joint winner of the National Health Management Institute awards. This is an amazing outcome for WALK. It is fantastic to have this achievement recognised at a national level through this award.
The project title is: WALK in partnership with Tallaght Hospital. "The award recognises leaders who are bringing about changes in healthcare; delivering improvements in patient outcomes; enhancing service delivery; and improving resource allocation. The HMI Leaders Award showcases the commitment, risk and perseverance which teams and individuals display in striving to achieve change". (extracted from HMI website).
About the Tallaght Hospital Project:
In March 2017 WALK in partnership with Tallaght Hospital established the WALKways programme.
This is a one year programme where job seekers with intellectual disabilities can gain relevant and meaningful work experience, be accredited for their practical learning and ultimately, move on to access paid employment in the open labour market.
Each trainee will complete three by four month work rotations and will be able to choose from a number of roles across 11 hospital departments.Back to blog
