I UNDERSTANDWALK have been partnering with the Erasmus Youth Programme since 2019. The partnership was initially set up via WALK's link with Dublin Community Growers who spoke to WALK's gardening expert, Hubert Martin, about the possibility of working with Erasmus to offer traineeships to young people. There was a pause in the programme, between 2020 and 2021, during the COVID pandemic but recently the Erasmus Youth Programme Partnership has started up again. The last students who availed of the programme were Elisa and Clemence. Both students learnt new skills in beekeeping and horticulture alongside the people that WALK support - and made valuable contributions to WALK's horticulture and beekeeping projects, as well as improving their English and learning more about Irish culture! WALK received a thank you e-mail, stating that Elisa and Clemance have returned to France as young ambassadors for the work of WALK. The next Erasmus Youth Programme traineeship will take place in June 22.
Below you can see a video showing some of the highlights from Elisa and Clemance's time on Erasmus with WALK, a video about beekeeping made by one of the French students who previously completed the Erasmus Programme with WALK and some photos.
