Assisted Decision Making

Our advocates recently set out on a journey to deepen their understanding of the Assisted Decision‑Making Act. As part of this work, we hosted a series of lunch‑and‑learn sessions across WALK to help staff and people supported familiarise themselves with the Act and explore what it means in practice.

Thanks to support from a National Lottery Grant, we were also able to run drama groups and art workshops facilitated by the brilliant Caroline Hyland. These creative spaces gave people the chance to explore the themes of the Act in an accessible, engaging, and meaningful way.

All of this work led to the creation of the ADM video with filmmaker Helen Flannagan. It’s designed to help people understand the key ideas behind the Act, especially its Guiding Principles.

Our hope is that this video will help raise awareness, spark reflection, and support ongoing learning for all of us.
